This pastel painting which is 10 x 14 on 140 lb Cold Press Watercolor paper. This painting was done for my grandson Alex. He has a Granny Smith Apple everyday!
It was done with soft and hard pastels along with pastel pencils for details!
Here is a little about my hobby of painting. Live in Western Connecticut and the area provides me with inspiration and time for my art. I started my love of painting in the late 70's and now that I am retired I can devout more time to my hobby.
I paint mainly for myself and love the challenge of transferring what I see onto paper. Currently my mediums of choice are soft pastels, acrylics, watercolors and colored pencils. I enjoy pastels the most as they allow me greater control and to develop works in detail. Colored pencils I find provide the same control.
My art education started in high school and from there was self taught and encouraged by my wife, children and grandchildren. I try to broaden my understanding of painting and techniques through art journals, books, internet and by studying exhibited works at art shows, museums and galleries. Have learned from local art groups and by attending live demos in various mediums. Have also done some plein aire painting with a group in Florida.
I have sold some of my work in the past and always interested in commissions.
Thanks for taking the time to view my blog.
